In 1996, the matriarch of the Holt Family, Ojetta Holt-Shoffner, lost a hard fought battle with cancer. The battle with cancer was an extremely painful journey our family had to endure, but was much more difficult because of the lack of knowledge of this dreadful disease that took our mother's life and we had to deal with feelings and emotions that most adults would have difficulty with.
As our family experienced life altering feelings and circumstances through our experience with cancer, we vowed to improve the quality of life for families who are fighting this dreadful disease, in particular children coping with a cancer stricken parent.
When we entered the National Football League we chose to use our talent and platform to make the promise to honor our mother a reality. Established in 1999, The Holt Foundation strives to provide assistance with a focus of efforts on the communication, education and leadership for children who are dealing with their parent's illness.
The Holt Foundation is asking individuals and corporations to join us in our efforts to help positively impact families affected by cancer.
