Holt Brothers' Celebrity Weekend 2009
2009 was a long and busy year for everyone. Torry was transferred to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and not to mention economic crises occurring all around us, but due to these events, and more, The Holt Foundation did not host their annual Celebrity Weekend. Instead, we thought it was best to help our sponsors, and friends out, and start our planning for the 2010 Celebrity Weekend in April. Since the Holt Foundation did not host the event in 2009, there was more time to help out local communities. Torry and Terrence hosted their annual football camp, and also gave back to a local inner city boxing program. We hope everyone had a great year, and is looking forward to what 2010 has in store for The Holt Foundation.
Holt Brothers' Celebrity Weekend 2008
Raleigh, NC - The 2008 Holt Brothers' Celebrity Weekend kicked off with a sophisticated feel this year, with the advent of the Holt Brothers' Dinner Gala and silent auction on Sunday, April 20th. It was held at swanky Sullivan's Steakhouse near downtown Raleigh, and with the red carpet rolled out Torry and Terrence's friends and teammates alike turned out in style. NFL Players such as Larry Fitzgerald, Chris Chambers, Jerricho Cotchery, Ricky Proehl, Drew Bennett and Koren Robinson and many others packed in for a wonderful dinner and program. The night's entertainment included talks from Torry and Terrence, a viewing of the new Holt Foundation DVD, a moving personal testimony from a father in the KidsCan! Program, and a motivational speech from a couple former participants of Camp Kesem, a unique getaway camp with a similar mission to that of the KidsCan! Program. An exciting finish to the auction paved the way for the late night fun, with comedians Guy Torry and Roy Wood, Jr performing to the delight of the crowd.
The next day the celebrities and other guests took their cuts to the course. The field included former NFL player and current NFL Network analyst Marshall Faulk, as well as Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith, former Carolina Tar Heel and Denver Bronco corner back Dre Bly and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The 2008 Holt Brothers' Golf Classic took place over the picturesque hills of Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh. This was the backdrop for some scratch golfers to show off their stuff, such as the team captained by Faulk, who took home 1st place. In 2nd were Rams wide receiver Dane Looker and his team, followed in 3rd by the Ruben Davis-captained squad. Others admired the beautiful scenery more than their own swings, but everyone that came out had a wonderful time with lots of good food and drinks for a great cause. All told for the weekend, the Holt Foundation brought in over $80,000 dollars! Thanks to all those who participated and contributed to make this event a big success!
Holt Brothers' Celebrity Weekend 2007
Raleigh, NC - Torry and Terrence Holt kicked off The Holt Brothers' Celebrity Weekend by hosting the Celebowl at AMF Pleasant Valley Lanes on Saturday, April 21st. The Celebowl was a very successful event and even a slight mic glitch could not hold the event down. As in years past, several fellow NFL celebrities again joined the Holt brothers for the weekend, including Donovan McNabb, Byron Leftwich, Michael Irvin, and Larry Fitzgerald among several others. Along with the bowling, which paired teams of four with a celebrity bowler, a main function of the Celebowl was the silent auction. This silent auction included a bid for a celebrity golfer for the Holt Golf Classic that ensued the next afternoon. As usual Marshall Faulk was a hot commodity as was Dane Looker as word spread of their talent. During the Celebowl event, Torry and Terrence took some of the funds earned from the event and gave it right back to the community as The Holt Foundation presented a check to Duke Hospital to start the newest Kidscan! Program in Durham.
On Sunday, April 22nd, the Holt Golf Classic teed off with a shotgun start at Brier Creek Country Club for the second straight year. This year's event was closed to the public making it a more private affair for the golfers. From the bidding the night before, celebrity captains were laid out for the teams of four in a Best Ball format golf tournament. Multiple contests and prizes were available throughout the event, including the ever-popular closest-to-the-pin contests as well as a few hole-in-one contests, one of which drove great excitement through the tournament, as on Hole 16 sponsored by Matison Motorsports, one lucky golfer was able to sink a hole-in-one winning him a Ducati motorcycle. The Golf Classic concluded with a reception in the clubhouse for the Post Golf Awards. The Holt Foundation raised over $100,000 from the weekend's festivities.
